IIIT-A strives to become an Institute which will create, transform and advance knowledge in the domain of Information Technology and allied areas. IIIT-A aims to develop and train human resource to be engaged in research, development, Industry/Corporate and education in these areas of Information Technology. The Institute is committed to develop among its members a scientific and research aptitude with an academic rigor and excitement for innovation and discovery. It seeks to develop an interdisciplinary community with people from diverse background with diverse ideas and culture, which will work to serve the nation and the world.

Mission

Built just before the onset of 21st Century as an Institute of National Importance and as a Centre of Excellence in the area of Information Technology and allied sciences, our mission is to create a World-Class Institution where students, faculty, staff and others can participate in stimulating research, comprehensive as well as focused teaching and learning, and global outreach and extension activities.

An information and knowledge is produced in society and is continuously changing the world and in turn, itself, the Information Technology has to deal with every aspect of life. Hence an Institute of Information Technology has the challenging task of computing, gathering, discovering, creating and transforming information in every domain of life. It must dynamically change itself to cater the needs of society and corporate world in a dynamically evolving environment in a dynamically evolving environment.

IIIT-Allahabad has an important role of building research and teaching mechanisms in India which are focused in the area of Information Technology and also includes almost all over related domains. Its lead role is not only to create new dynamic technology for information processing but also to produce trained manpower (for professionals) who can serve the nation and the world. It has also the added responsibility of producing a manpower, teachers and researchers who, in turn, can generate more knowledge and ensure and perpetual creation of manpower. It is an institute to help in satisfying the needs of the country during a particular period but also constantly evolving to satisfy the future needs of the Country. It is an Institute at Allahabad but collaborating with other institutes and industry at national and global level and at the same time inviting others to work and participate within the institute. It is a Sangam, the confluence of people of diverse regions, nations, languages, cultures and ethnic backgrounds imbibing prefectural, moral and ethical values, finally, it is an institution reaching out to society to bring about a quantum qualitative change in the lives of the people and the Nation.
